Stretch of Osborne closed as firefighters battle blaze

The Winnipeg Free Press reported that a young couple who just moved into a suite above Ronald's Fine Shoes on Osborne Street are lucky to be alive, because they managed to escape before fire destroyed the building early Monday morning.

It was reported that the couple heard the alarm at just after 4:30 in the morning.

They were the only occupants at the time, having moved last Thursday.

Alexandra French said the alarm was more like a "buzzing" and hard to hear. Schmid said he would have slept through the alarm if it hadn't been for his girlfriend.

There were two other suite but they weren't occupied at the time. One was vacant and the occupant of the other was working a night shift.

Police had closed Osborne in both directions near the intersection to vehicles and pedestrians.
There is no word yet on the cause of the fire, or a damage estimate

City fire crews now have extinguished the fire which destroyed the two-storey building in the 600 block of Osborne. The store and suites above it sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage. There appear to have been no injuries.

Mike Hancock denies that his assistant is a Russian Spy

The Home Office said it did not routinely comment on individual cases, nor would it confirm deportation moves.

Many believed to be  the very first time since the Cold War ended that someone working in Parliament has been accused of  spying for the Russians.

According to the Sunday Times, Katia Zatuliveter, 24, was arrested on the orders of MI5 over espionage claims. She has been working for Lib Dem MP Mike Hancock, who said she had done nothing wrong and would appeal.

A Russian working as a parliamentary aide to a British MP has been taken into custody to face deportation proceedings amid claims she is a spy.

But a security source is said to have told the Sunday Times that Ms Zatuliveter's presence was not "conducive to national security", and the intention was to "show her the door".

Mr Hancock said he was standing by Ms Zatuliveter. He said she had told him she had not seen any evidence against her.

"Nobody has shown me any evidence to support the view that she is any way a threat to the UK," he said. "If she was a threat, when they stopped her in August, they could have removed her then." Mr Hancock said she had been arrested at 7:00 AM (GMT) on Thursday and was subject to a deportation order.

"She was taken away and held in a detention centre in London, and then transferred to another detention centre where she is putting her appeal together," he said.

Jailbreaking iOs 4.2.1 With Redsn0w 0.9.6b4

Redsnow 0.9.6b4 was just recently released by iPhone Dev Team and jailbreaking would be the next thing to do. This updated version is based on Geohot's Limera1n bootroom which has already owned all current iOS devices.

Before we get into the process, let's have a brief description first of what is jailbreaking. It is a process that allows iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch users to gain root access to the command line of the operating system thus removing any limitations imposed upon them by Apple. Having successfully done this, the user could already download themes and extensions which is not available through the App Store via installers such as Cydia as well as installing non Apple operating systems.

Geohot has been successful in making their jailbreaking system in every upgraded iOS that Apple will be releasing. Unlike any jalibreaking process, this one is somewhat difficult because you have to boot it into a "jailbroken state" on every reboot. It is called a tethered jailbreak. It applies to iPhone 3GS (new bootrom), iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch 2G (MC Model), iPod touch 3G and the iPod touch 4G. Old version iPhone 3GS (old bootrom), iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G (Non-MC Model) can be jailbroken-untethered using the latest version of Redsnow. Let's wait for another famous hack for the untethered one.

Here is the step by step process on how to do it:

Step 1. Download iOS 4.2.1 for your version of iOS device.
Step 2. Update/Restore to iOS 4.2.1 firmware using the IPSW file you just downloaded via iTunes 10.1.
Step 3. Start Redsn0w 0.9.6b4 and point it to iOS 4.2.1 firmware to proceed with the jailbreak.
Step 4. Now select “Install Cydia” and click “Next”. Optionally (if available), you can also select any other option you like.
Step 5. Now make sure your device is both OFF and PLUGGED IN to the computer before you click "Next".
(At this stage you will be presented with a screen where you will have to quickly hold “Power” button and then while holding the “Power” button, you will now have to hold “Home” button too. Now after few seconds release “Power” button but keep holding “Home” button until installation begins.)
Step 6. Sit back and enjoy while redsn0w will do all the rest for you. Once done, your iPhone or iPod touch will restart automatically and you will find it jailbroken on the latest iOS 4.2.1 firmware.

For For iPhone 4, 3GS (New Bootrom), iPod touch 4G / 3G / 2G, iPad ONLY:

Step 7. Now from here onwards, whenever you want to do anything related to jailbreak like SSHing into your device, or running Cydia, you must first run your device in the so called “jailbroken state” on every reboot by using “Just boot tethered right now” option in Redsn0w.

Iron Bowl 2010 Results: Sweet Auburn Victory Inside Rival's Court

Iron Bowl 2010 has been that exciting more than the expected. The series which has been considered to be the one of the the best and most hard-fought rivalries in all sports finally happened with awesome results. A lot of unexpected things happened inside the Bryant-Denny Stadium, the home court of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Home court advantage is not a guarantee after all, as a lot of twists took place.

Tiger's Cam Newton has become the star of the night after he did an improbable victory lap which has awaken the 24 points-down team. The Crimson Tide fans just watched the QB in awe as he made his 3 touch downs and ran after another which amazingly kept the team on track a shot.

The first half seemed to be doom's day for the Tigers as they could barely catch up with 24-7 score. Orange colored cheerers on one end of the stadium kept their fingers crossed and remained hopeful that they could still grab the win. The 314-2 lead in total yards lead of Alabama is so difficult to beat but miracles just happen. Call it miracle as you would do it in front of the rival's crowd and within the rival's grounds.

With their great defense, Auburn was able to surpass the great challenge. Newton threw scoring passes of 36 yards to Emory Blake, then 70 yards to Terrel Zachary and finally a 7 yard to Philip Lutzenkirchen. All these gave the team their first ever lead of the game with 11:55 remaining time.

"I couldn't be more proud of our football team", said Auburn head coach Gene Chizik. "That was a game that will certainly go down the history. It's hard to come back when you're down, 24-0. It was something that we had done before in terms of having to overcome a lot of adversity".

"Our defense did a great job of holding them to three points in the second half, and that was off a turnover of a bobbled punt," Chizik added. "I couldn't be more proud of our defense. Obviously, it was ugly in the first half. I think everybody saw that, bu they responded really well"

Auburn will then face South Carolina for the SEC championship game next week.
